Grove Park Pool
Grove Park Pool (1500 Benton Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64127) is part of a major public pool network across Kansas City. The list of municipal pools includes other spots like Budd Pool, Line Creek Community Center Pool, and Gorman Pool.
Grove Park Pool has newer water slides, basketball hoops for in-water games, diving boards, and a climbing wall near the shallow end of the pool. There are also lap lanes for those who want to exercise, not just cool down. There are no truly shallow areas, which can be important to know in advance.

Water slides, a lap pool, and a kiddie area make Springs Aquatic Center one of the most popular water attractions in the area.
There is a spray area for those who want to cool off without submerging themselves. The facility includes one of the largest competition pools in the area, which has a 684,000-gallon capacity. For those interested in turning a local pool into a place of employment or simply learning a new skill, the pool also offers free lifeguard certification classes, where you can learn the nuances of the role. Springs Aquatic Center is open from May 29 to September 3 (weekends only starting on August 23).
Sar Ko Par Aquatic Center
The Sar Ko Par Aquatic Center (8801 Greenway Lane, Lenexa, KS 66215) is one of the better public pools in the Kansas City area. As part of the Sar Ko Par Trails Park, the Aquatic Center provides several water-based amenities for people of all ages and swimming experiences to have some summer fun, including an eight-lane, 25-meter competition pool, a lazy river, climbing walls, water slides, diving boards, and a zero-depth entry area for small swimmers.
The venue also hosts morning "Splash With Me" events for children aged 5 and younger to learn to swim and become comfortable in the water with their parents in a zero-depth entry pool with interactive features. With bathrooms, shade features, and a concession stand, it’s possible to stay at the pool all day! The Sar Ko Par Aquatic Center will remain open until Labor Day for the summer season.
Midwest Aquatics Swim & Scuba
Hitting the local pool while feeling the sun on your skin is a great combination, but outdoor pools are subject to the whims of Mother Nature. Blue Valley Recreation Activity Center has not one, but two heated indoor pools where a number of water activities take place every day of the week. Swimming lessons are available for kids as young as 6 months old, and there are even adult lessons for people aged 15 and older.
Competitive swimmers aiming to increase their stamina and mastery of techniques for future meets may appreciate that the facility schedules specific times for lap swimming, when recreational swimmers won't fill the pool.
